'You would love the Piece Hall' is a phrase that has been said to me on more than one occasion and is why it was the first place I drew when I started to the visiting book. However a year on I still hadn't visited - until today!
We (my Mum, Daughter Evie and Niece Maisy) arrived in Halifax at around 1.30, we left the car at Broad Street Plaza multi storey which cost £4 for 3 hours and is just a 5 minute walk to the The Piece Hall.
It was raining when we arrived so we decided to find something to eat there are a few places to select from, we chose The Bakery which serves sandwiches, pastries and drinks and is perfect for a bite to eat and located in beautiful interiors.
Our conversation over lunch was the history of what this stunning building was built for so we were delighted that there was a visitors centre on site with an informative and interactive potted history that we all found really interesting, this includes a free fun photo booth with period costume as we had limited time we thought we would save this for next time.
The walkways are all undercover so the bad weather didn't spoil our trip. Under the archways we discovered a selection of delightful shops selling gifts, soaps, art, antiques, books and chocolates.
Would we go again? Definitely, but next time we would arrive earlier as we could easily have spent a good few hours here.
The whats on schedule has a variety of events from family friendly workshops to open air cinema and concerts, I will be adding some of those to my diary this year!
